Overview
Ferndon was founded durring the early 10th century, by Bibnen Hawke. The establishment of Ferndon was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Bibnen Hawke struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Ferndon as a prison colony.
Ferndon was built using the conventions of Sylvin durring the early 10th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Ferndon is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature waddle and daub construction with good timber frames and a stone foundation protected by thatched or shingled rooves. Most buildings with second floors are built in such a way as to overhang into the streets on the upper floors for more space, as building size seems to be the primary indicator of wealth within the community. Most buildings are not decorated with any integral features, but instead use ivy, flowers, and other natural elements in planters of on trellices to breathe life into the structure they grow upon.
Ferndon is buildings have been located at convienant points along the swamp Ferndon was built upon. Navigating the town is therefore a little chalanging as the distance between buildings verris greatly and the crampt paverstone streets flow where they are able to be made rather than folowing the most convienant paths. The town sits behind a stone-renforced palisade wall, with stone gatehouses and timber drawbridges for their trench. Astonishigly, the would-be-castle fortifications are in pristine condishion, as if they had just been finished before you laied eyes upon them.
Ferndon has the unmistakable air of a town on its last legs. Everything is a bit slipshod and ramshackle. Everyone is at work, or drinking. No one has anything in their eyes other than fear and despair. Whatever industry once fueled Ferndon ’s existence has dried up and the town is drifting down the stream of history as it dries up. Likely due to this, Ferndon is, in a word, disorder. People seem to be allowed to do as they please with little harmoney to anything. It feels less like a town, and more like a spot people just happened to have homes. One cannot help but wonder what Ferndon was like during the glorydays.

They are also responsible for the maintenance of these features. Notably, the OCG is not responsible for Ferndon 's parks.

Ferndon has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands. They are not to be confused with the Office of Civil Groundskeeping as they do not hold authority over nor responsibility for Ferndon 's natural decorations nor waterways.

Cultural Notes
Ferndon is led by one or more incompetents. While they must have been very good at something to have acquired the position, they are fundamentally incapable of leading. Uncontrolled passions or lusts, commitment to a hopelessly impractical ideal, pigheaded obstinacy in the face of failure, a total lack of charisma or interpersonal skills, or profound laziness might all unfit them for their post.
Ferndon 's bank was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is best known for its striking sculptural forms and often dazzling ornamental detail that characterizes the buildings general shape. The radiant colors, rich patterns, and symmetrical silhouettes employed by this style were backed up by rich decorative features including gardens, courtyards, extruded arches, domes, pointed domes, vaulted ceilings, elaborate painted and inlaid designs, and decorative sculptures.
In Ferndon snow is warm to the touch and does not melt within city limits. Also it only happens during summer.
The Tiger (Cat, Great) near Ferndon are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.
Ferndon 's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in winter and involves gestures to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 3 via guttural bellowing.

Its winds were so great they picked up unsecured objects and flung them with enough force to smash brick and skull alike. Buildings collapsed under the gale, burying countless people alive.
